Greece Through my Lenz

Santorini
This was a rooftop in Santorini seemingly orchestrated to be a great photo opportunity.
So I obliged. The Mediterranean Sea makes a spectacular backdrop to this weathered boat and urn.

I loved this view of the Mediterranean Sea from above, so I made the scene monochromatic so the water below would stand out.
Antiparos
Antiparos is a tiny little island off of Paros, with an abundance of flora and fauna. I stopped to take a photo of this pretty pink blooming cactus, and later noticed the cat in the corner.

|
Just to be different, the background of this photo is extruded while the cactus in its pot was left untouched, making the pink blooms stand out.
Athens
Athens is full of ruins and historical treasures creating thousands of great photo opportunities, and I tried to take advantage of every one of them. This was just one lonely little church in the city core that intrigued me.

I found that the monochromatic look helped enhance the rich oak doors.
Antiparos
Beautiful blooming bougainvillea was all over the island, and I ended up with numerous pictures.

|
This is a simple method of making an image look 3D, by having it come out of the frame.
Mykonos
This island had skinny little streets and steeps hills in every direction. Traveling by donkey or mule was the safest way to go. This farmer was on the way to the market with his wares when we crossed paths.

|
|
I loved the red flowers in the background of the stark surroundings; so I thought a monochromatic photo with the flowers highlighted would be a nice effect.
Lefkes
An old, burned out structure void of habitation, save for one lone flower in an old window well.

|
|
This is an angled stroke effect over most of the photo, with a few clear brush strokes to let the original, crisp flowers show through.
